Ghazal Azizi
Local Journalism Initiative Reporter
Ghazal Azizi is journalist and fact-checker, based in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal), where she earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and got her start in journalism. Since her time at McGill’s student paper, The Tribune, and community radio, CKUT, she has worked with Explore Magazine, Broadview, Maisonneuve Magazine, and Xtra. Ghazal is passionate about multimedia storytelling, and is joining the IJF as our Quebec reporter on Indigenous affairs. She was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, which she misses most every spring and summer, when she can’t find fruits sour-enough for her West Asian taste buds in Canada (think sour plums, mulberries, Cornelian cherries ….)
