The new president of the Treasury Board of Canada, Anita Anand, has her work cut out for her. As the manager of government spending, she’s taking over an administration that’s on track to spend record amounts on outsourced contracts while the number of public servants continues to swell.
Anand is trying to transform the federal government into one that is more efficient, modern and digital. To wean itself off consultants, the government needs in-house tech and management expertise, but the most skilled workers are usually nabbed by tech firms or consultancies that offer higher salaries.
