The federal government spent a record amount on management consultants last year, continuing a trend since the Liberal Party came to power in 2015.

Total spending on these consultants, who advise government agencies on issues they may not be skilled in, surpassed $811 million in fiscal year 2021-22, according to Public Accounts of Canada data. This is nearly double the $416 million spent six years earlier.
