Vancouver is auctioning off thousands of carbon credits earned through renewable energy programs, potentially generating more than $1 million in revenue for the city.
The city posted a tender last week seeking bidders for credits earned through B.C.’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) market. The 10-year-old program sets targets for fuel-producing organizations to reduce their carbon intensity — a measure of greenhouse gas emissions produced relative to the useful energy generated by a fuel.
