The second-largest union for postal workers in Canada reported communicating with Public Services Minister Joël Lightbound in late October about the government’s plan to make it easier to close certain post offices.

The Canadian Postmasters and Assistants Association (CPAA) wants to take part in consultations “regarding any changes to mail service in remote, rural, and Northern communities, following the government's announcement that the moratorium on [closing] rural post offices will be lifted,” according to the filing in the federal registry.
