Damien Kurek, who vacated his seat as an MP so Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre could run in his place, has registered to lobby the Alberta government on behalf of a B.C.-based coal company.
Kurek was elected to a third term as an MP for Calgary-area riding Battle River—Crowfoot in a landslide victory on election night in April. But he agreed to step down after Poilievre lost his Ottawa-area riding to Liberal MP Bruce Fanjoy, so the Conservative leader could run in his place. Poilievre won that by-election with 81 per cent of the vote on Aug. 18.
