When B.C. Premier David Eby announced a new tax on so-called house flippers, he promised it would discourage speculators and give regular people a leg up in their search for a home.
But data tallied for the IJF suggest flippers are currently playing a very small role in B.C.’s out-of-control real estate market, and advocates tracking the numbers doubt the tax will have much of an effect on home prices.
