Adam is a Master of Environmental Science student at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops BC. Though specializing in environmental science and invasive plant research, Adam has a history and education in programming and web development. Working with Professor Matthew Malone, he helped to build the first iteration of the Open By Default website and document library, which allowed users to search and instantly access documents made available through Canada’s Access to Information legislation. The website was built in less than two months at minimal cost and allowed users to conveniently access over 15,000 documents. Now, Open By Default has partnered with the IJF in an effort to better guarantee the initiative’s success. Trust and transparency are critical of any government body, making access to information paramount in a functioning democracy. Adam continues to lend his expertise to the IJF to ensure continued success in this important endeavour.
