Their Canadian affiliate was founded in 1938 as a result of a collaboration between Eli Lilly and Company and Banting and Best, which produced the world’s first commercially available insulin. Lilly's work has broadened, and they now focus on diabetes, cancer, immunology, pain and neurodegeneration. Their products save and improve lives. Pharmaceuticals also save overall health care costs by improving health outcomes, reducing the need for surgeries, hospitalization, and extended care, and allowing people to return to work sooner.
